Why Northern Cyprus is becoming more attractive for tourists than the Republic of Cyprus

Previously, Russians could fly to the island on a direct flight to Larnaca or Paphos airports by issuing a visa through the official website of the Republic of Cyprus, but at the moment there are no direct flights between Russia and the Republic of Cyprus. We just that a settlement of the situation in Ukraine will resolve that issue and direct flights will be available again. European have a choice either to fly direct to Paphos or Larnaca (Visa free for EU citizens)

How to get to the northern part of Cyprus is a common question. For travel to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the most common way is to fly with a stopover in Turkey, usually via Istanbul or Antalya, sometimes via Adana or Izmir. You can find flight options on airline ticketing websites by indicating your city of departure and destination – Ercan Airport, which is located in the north of the island lies approx 20 km from the capital Lefkosa and 42 km from Kyrenia (Girne)
Travel to Cyprus for foreign citizens
If you are an EU citizen and not a citizen of Russia or Ukraine, you can fly to the island on a direct flight to the Republic of Cyprus (LArnaca or Paphos) and cross the border without any problems. The border checkpoint (TRNC) will issue you with a tourist visa valid for a stay of 30 days. If you plan to stay longer, you will need to extend your visa at the immigration office at any major police station. (Kyrenia; Lefkosa or Famagusta) They can extend for up to 90 days. Warning, if you overstay your visa, you may be subjected to a fine on departure. Nicosia (Nicosia or Lefkosa) is the capital of both parts of Cyprus and is divided between two states, so the name may appear differently in search engines. It is the only (last) remaing divided capital in Europe.
Romantic way to Northern Cyprus through Turkey
Another way to get to Northern Cyprus will be of interest to lovers of romance and adventure – ferries run to Kyrenia and Famagusta from the Turkish cities of Mersin and Tasucu. If you want to see the impressive old cities of Turkey en route, this is an ideal way to do it before catching the ferry to Northern Cyprus on large ferries that allow you to transport not only people, but also cars. Yes, you heard right, you can get to Northern Cyprus by car, passing through several countries, depending on the place of departure. There is no direct flight to Northern Cyprus yet, but a car journey, if you have the time, is an exciting alternative.
